The Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen & Conservationists and the Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation Invites Youth to Share their Love of the Outdoors through Art and Photography in the Annual Art Poster & Photo Contest.
Each year the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen & Conservationists and the Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation invites students in grades 4-12 to participate in its poster and photo contest to encourage creative expression and an appreciation and understanding of the outdoor world. The contests are open to school-aged children in grades 4-12 who live in Pennsylvania. Entries will compete against others in the same age group. Youngsters can be attending public, private or home schools. Questions about the contest or for information on rules and how to enter? Contact the PFSC office at (717) 232-3480 or susan@pfsc.org.
Through this contest, we hope to encourage our youth to learn more about Pennsylvania's wildlife, fisheries and natural resources.
This year's theme is "Symbols of Pennsylvania".
Pennsylvania has many official state symbols. Each symbol is connected to history, honors a native species, or recognizes a product of importance to Pennsylvania's economy. Five of these symbols have a connection to conservation and have been used in PFSC & PWF's logos. Do you know what they are?
GET EXCITED: Learn more about the Symbols of Pennsylvania. What is the state bird, mammal, fish, tree and plant? Posters and photos may depict one or all five of these state symbols.
GET OUTSIDE: How easy is it to spot one of these symbols? Where are they usually found?
GET INVOLVED: By looking closer, you will see how conservation efforts promote and protect our natural resources, and how you can make your neighborhood a better place to live so you can enjoy these state symbols in your back yard.
Judging of posters may be at the county and state levels. The deadline for most county submissions is January 1, 2021. The judging of photos is only at the state level.
Posters may be submitted directly to the state by March 1, 2021, if your county does not participate. (Submission is not required at the county level to enter the state level.)
All photos must be submitted directly to the state office by March 1, 2021. Contact the PFSC office at (717) 232-3480 or susan@pfsc.org to find your county contact's name and contact info.
Judging at the state level will take place during the PFSC March 2021 conference. Contest awards at the State Level for each category (poster and photo) - Senior, Junior, and Sub-junior, are as follows: First Place - $75, Second Place - $60, and Third Place - $50.
