The Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen & Conservationists and the Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation Invites Youth to Share their Love of the Outdoors through Art and Photography in the Annual Art Poster & Photo Contest
Each year, the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen & Conservationists and the Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation invite students in grades 4-12 to participate in its poster and photo contest to encourage creative expression and an appreciation and understanding of the outdoor world. The contests are open to school-aged children in grades 4-12 who live in Pennsylvania. Entries will compete against others in the same age group. Youngsters can attend public, private or home schools. Questions about the contest or for information on rules and how to enter? Contact the PFSC/PWF office at (717) 232-3480 or catherine@pfsc.org.
Through these contests, we hope to encourage our youth to learn more about Pennsylvania’s wildlife, fisheries, and natural resources.
Pennsylvania State Parks protect man-made wonders, maintain historical sites, and harbor essential habitats. Pennsylvania has a history as varied as the species found in the different kinds of habitats here. Can you believe the Kinzua Bridge Skywalk in Kinzua Bridge State Park, a 600-foot walk on support towers, was once a vast bridge that was partially destroyed by a tornado? Were you aware that Delaware Canal State Park has the only remaining continuously intact canal of the great towpath canal building era of the early and mid-19th century? Did you know that Gull Point in Presque Isle State Park is a notable birding location, and two pairs of federally endangered Great Lakes piping plovers returned in 2017 to nest after not being seen since the 1950s?
Get Excited, Get Involved, Get Outside - in our parks! Maybe there is a state park close to where you live, or you’ve driven across Pennsylvania to see the sites in another park. Think back to the parks you’ve visited or would like to visit and the sites, landmarks, or habitats that make them unique. Use your artwork to showcase one of Pennsylvania’s State Parks and the things it protects.
