Who We Are

The Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen and Conservationists is made up of working-class folks whose passion is the great outdoors. We know and share your love of the outdoors and fight daily to protect your rights and opportunities. While many special interest groups represent specific individual interests, we represent all sportsmen and sportswomen’s interests to ensure you can pursue your passions.

We provide leadership, education, and advocacy for our outdoor heritage of hunting, trapping, angling, boating, shooting sports, the 2nd Amendment, and our natural resources with a constant presence on Capitol Hill on behalf of sportsmen, sportswomen, and conservationists.

Because numbers matter in the world of politics, the strength and direction of our organization come from our grassroots members — approximately 70,000 individuals and affiliated clubs, made up of hunters, anglers, trappers, archers, conservationists, and other outdoor enthusiasts across Pennsylvania.

More individual voices lead to a louder collective voice when we go to our politicians on issues affecting your rights and privileges. We may not have the deep pockets our opponents bring to the table, but we do come with passionate supporters and credibility. Organizing our affiliated clubs and individual members under the umbrella of one organization is a force multiplier and creates optimum influence and protection for all.

Like all membership-driven organizations, we rely on membership dues for financial support and volunteer efforts for membership drives, fundraising, and soliciting donations. We operate with an all-volunteer board of officers, directors, and delegates who often take money from their own pockets to represent you and attend meetings and events.

We hold two semi-annual conferences (March and September) as well as regional (divisions) and county meetings throughout the year, providing an extensive network of hunting, fishing, trapping, shooting clubs, and individuals across Pennsylvania keeping an eye on the issues for you.

Our Mission

To protect and conserve Pennsylvania's natural resources, outdoor heritage, and 2nd Amendment rights

Our Vision

To continue to be recognized as the premier voice for conservation and our outdoor heritage in Pennsylvania

Our Priorities

  • To provide an active presence and strong voice on Capitol Hill and with our resource agencies, in order to protect, promote, and pass on our outdoor heritage and rights

  • To retain and grow membership, in order to strengthen our collective voice and power as a grassroots organization

  • To grow the organization’s income and funding, in order to sustain our mission now and for generations to come

Our Purpose

Wildlife & Natural Resource Conservation

  • To encourage, conduct, and support scientific and technical studies in the field of fish and wildlife conservation
  • To assist in the design and development of scientifically sound fish and wildlife programs and the management of wildlife and hunting/fishing/trapping
  • To demonstrate the constructive role that sportsmen and sportswomen play in the conservation of fish, wildlife, and our natural resources
  • To promote hunting, fishing, and trapping as necessary and ethical tools utilized in wildlife management

We believe all wildlife management should be based on science-led, resource-first management established in the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation. We must strive for opportunity optimization if we want to optimize participation. We oppose legislative attempts to micro-manage wildlife/aquatic seasons and bags/creel limits. Resource management decisions should be managed by subject matter experts, not based on an emotional or political whim.

Conservation Education

  • To encourage, conduct, and support educational programs on fish and wildlife conservation, ecology, and natural resource management that include a demonstration of the constructive role that hunting, fishing, and trapping play in natural resource conservation and land and water management

Conservation Funding is Under Serious Threat

Pennsylvanians need a solid PFSC to defend and protect the already limited funds required to maintain necessary habitat improvement projects, conservation efforts, and other projects that ensure we all have access to our favorite wild places.

The anti-hunting and anti-gun supporters have fragmented us into small groups. Divide and conquer is a time-tested strategy that works because when we are separated into different interest groups and not united, we can’t afford to fight back against the political punches thrown at us.

We must create the most influential grassroots effort that supports science-based wildlife, fisheries, and habitat management. We want to ensure our legislators and regulators always consider the resource FIRST. And we want management decisions made by subject matter experts, not based on an emotional or political whim.

While our Director of Government Affairs Mike Kriner is leading and organizing the charge in Harrisburg to represent sportsmen’s interests, we still need you to ensure your legislators know your views on issues.

2nd Amendment Rights Protection

  • To promote and protect the rights to keep and bear arms as called for in the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of the Commonwealth
  • To assist in promoting gun safety and responsible gun ownership
  • To promote shooting sports

Cooperation & Support Assistance

  • To provide support and cooperation to other organizations, individuals, and agencies pursuing the same or similar goals to the PFSC
  • To provide leadership and advocacy for the enhancement of fish and wildlife resources for the benefit of all hunters, anglers, and conservationists, by working directly with our resource agencies and legislature

Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation (PWF)

The PWF exists to educate Pennsylvanians about our environment and inspire them to protect and conserve our natural resources. The specific and primary purposes for which the PWF was formed are:

  • To develop, promote, and support a comprehensive educational program based upon scientific, technical, and legal study and analysis for the restoration, wise use, management, and conservation of wildlife and other natural resources
  • To inform and educate the public through the dissemination of facts and information that may contribute to a fuller understanding of problems involved in the restoration, wise use, management, and conservation of wildlife and other natural resources and in various possible solutions to the problems
  • To coordinate and cooperate with other organizations, agencies, societies, clubs, and individuals in this state which are or should be interested in the restoration, wise use, management and conservation of wildlife and other natural resources and to join and cooperate with other organizations, agencies, societies, clubs, and individuals outside of this state that are interested in the restoration, wise use, management and conservation of wildlife and other natural resources
